Amblyseius-Breeding-System – steady stream of predatory mites targetting whitefly and thrips

Efficient sachets deliver resilient predatory mites over several weeks

  • True generalist – voracious predatory mite Amblyseius (Typhlodromips) swirskii has a preference for greenhouse and tobacco whitefly eggs and larvae as well as young thrips larvae
  • Also eats - spider and tarsonemid mite
  • Adapted to high temperatures - active up to temperatures of 40 °C
  • For optimal population growth - use alternative food source Nutrimite to help create ‘standing army’

Why are breeding sachets so effective?

  • Sachets contain food – bran carrier and factitious prey - for the predatory mites
  • A. swirskii mites multiply inside the sachets and disperse into the crop
  • Continual release of predatory mites over six weeks
