Amblyseius cucumeris is quite conspicuous because of its high mobility.
This predatory mite feeds mainly on thrips larvae, and sometimes also consumes spider mites or other pest mites.
Moreover, A. cucumeris eats pollen, which makes it interesting for preventative introductions in pollen bearing crops such as sweet pepper and eggplant. Also applicable in ornamentals such as gerbera, rose and a wide range of potted plants.
Amblyseius-Breeding-System is provided in sachets containing a food source for the predatory mite, allowing reproduction inside the sachets. This allows a continuous release ("walk-out") of the predatory mites over several weeks and also enables preventative releases in crops without pollen (e.g. cucumber).

ABS-System, which contains the predatory mite Amblyseius cucumeris, also contains the prey mite (Tyrophagus putrescentiae) as a food source. Under certain circumstances such as young or weak plants, dark and humid climate conditions, and in combination with using large quantities of breeding sachets, the prey mite (T. putrescentiae) population can increase to the point of causing damages in cucumbers. The use of these products in cucumbers is under the grower’s own responsibility.
