22/08/2018 - Biobest, Biobasiq Sverige AB and Borregaard Bioplant came together in June to exhibit at Borgeby Fältdagar - the popular annual Swedish agricultural fair that has grown to become one of the largest in this region. All-encompassing, combining crop cultivations and machinery demonstrations with seminars and trade exhibits, this highly dynamic event attracts more than 400 Swedish and international exhibitors and over 20,000 visitors from across Northern Europe. Primarily an agricultural event, horticultural production in open fields and tunnels has become an important aspect of this two-day fair.
Held in the midst of the heat wave that gripped Northern Europe this summer, Biobest’s Simon Foster − together with Sven Göransson, Anna Pettersson and Linda-Marie Rännbäck from Biobasiq Sverige AB and Borregaard Bioplant – kept their cool showcasing our growing biological control and pollination portfolio, while fielding enquiries regarding topical pest challenges.
“As a result of the recent hot weather and drought conditions thrips and spider mite control proved popular topics of conversation,” says Simon Foster. “Both pests thrive in these conditions, especially in tunnels, creating extra pressure. We were inundated with questions from growers on how best to overcome these sudden spikes in pest pressure.”
The busy fair provided an ideal platform to showcase a range of Biobest products including bumblebees, predatory mites such as Amblyseius andersoni and Phytoseiulus persimilis, as well as Aphidius colemani, Aphidoletes aphidimyza and Chrysoperla carnea.
