25/03/2019 - Biopesticides continue to show significant growth in European and global horticultural production, playing a key role in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programmes. As a player in the growing biopesticides market, Biobest will be present at the forthcoming ACI (Active Communications International) Biopesticides Europe Conference. Lieselotte De Bruyne, Biobest Product Manager Plant Health, will be addressing the delegates.
Developing integrated control programmes
In a session entitled ‘Developing integrated control programmes’ on Wednesday 29 May, Lieselotte will explain how complete IPM solutions for high value crops involve monitoring solutions, beneficial insects as well as biopesticides. “Successful IPM programmes require a multifaceted approach and must take into account all pests and diseases present in the crop,” she explains.
“Monitoring and prevention are both key to successful IPM programmes. As a second line of defence, biocontrol agents are introduced to control pest and diseases. Meanwhile, knowledge regarding the side effects of conventional crop protection products is vital to limit the impact on biocontrol agents when their use is required. And last but not least, the development of complete solutions requires open innovation and plenty of collaboration,” says Lieselotte.
