Biobest Knowledge and Training center spreads its wings

Since its foundation more than 25 years ago, Biobest develops solutions for sustainable crop management. Effective transfer of knowledge to growers and distributors has always been a key point of attention. The company’s ever growing presence across the globe and the constant stream of innovations delivered by its R&D department further reinforce the need for knowledge transfer activities. In this context Biobest has now established its Knowledge and Training Center, dedicated to training and knowledge transfer to distributors, growers and advisors. Here are some examples of Biobest KTC in action.

On May 15th, a group of Korean growers from Gyeongnam area visited BVB Substrates at De Lier in The Netherlands. BVB Substrates invited Biobest to organize a practical training information session focused on tomato crops. Biobest’s Paco Lozano, responsible for BKTC, provided full explanations about the use of bumblebees, about scouting and monitoring tomato pests and on the use of beneficials in the context of an IPM strategy. To be able to put all this into practice, all the attendees received a monitoring kit to practice in their own greenhouse.

On July 9th, Kadmo d.o.o., Biobest’s distributor in Croatia, organized for the 2nd time its International Seminar on Hydroponic Production. After last year’s success, Biobest couldn’t be absent on this year’s event. Pascal Briand, Sustainable Crop Management Specialist at Biobest, presented some of the latest Biobest novelties: the Flying Doctors® and Nutrimite. These presentations received a lot of attention and interest from key local and international growers and distributors. The atmosphere during and after the seminar was ideal to ensure that the formal information transfer was further strengthened by lots of informal questions and discussions.

In Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia, a well-attended grower training was organized by Biobest’s distributor New Habitat on May 15th. More than 165 growers and agronomists listened with great enthusiasm to Pascal Briand, who explained the use and advantages of bumblebees and IPM in vegetables. Because of the huge success, similar seminars will be held in other parts of Saudi Arabia in the near future.

BKTC seminars and trainings met with very positive feedback. Do you wish to organize a session in your area on a specific topic? Or believe that one should be organized for you and fellow growers? Contact your local Biobest distributor or get in touch with Paco Lozano at Biobest KTC.
