Tamarixia trioza

The parasitic wasp Tamarixia triozae is a very efficient ecto-parasitoid to control the tomato/potato psyllid Paratrioza cockerelli. It achieves up to 85% parasitism rates. For egg laying it prefers the 4th and 5th instars and parasitizes an average of 7 nymphs per day. Parasitized nymphs are easy to recognize by their brown color. Tamarixia also feed on 3rd -5th instars, able to eat 3 nymphs per day. Totally a single Tamarixia adult kills about 6-10 nymphs of the tomato/potato psyllid.
